Madrid, July 5, 2018 – The Spanish Association for Digitalization, DigitalES and Fundación Junior Achievement is organizing GENERACIÓN WHAT’S NEXT, a meeting next Tuesday with 32 students and CEO’s of the main technology companies, in an initiative with the aim to DigitalES seeks to identify and promote talent and vocations among young people, giving them the opportunity to exchange concerns and experiences with top executives from leading companies in the digital sector.

The meeting will take place next
tuesday, july 10, at 14h,
in the framework of the congress Digitales Summit 2018, where more than 50 speakers and 400 guests will meet on July 10 and 11 in Madrid to analyze the impact of digitalization from different perspectives.

The DigitalES employers’ association, made up of 42 companies including telecommunications operators, manufacturers and technology consultants, has repeatedly pointed out the need to promote STEM vocations and entrepreneurship in order to fill the technical positions and profiles currently vacant in the sector.

For Alicia Richart, CEO of DigitalES, “the digitalization of the economy is not an option, but a necessity. It is vital to raise productivity and have an open and inclusive society”. However, the data are not favorable. “According to the European Commission in Spain we have 12,000 unfilled vacancies for ICT specialists, in DigitalES we are identifying in our companies what profiles are in demand and what knowledge and skills are needed to be able to adapt the offer of continuous training to this scenario”.

In its interest in promoting talent among young people, DigitalES collaborates for this initiative with Junior Achievement, a foundation that for 15 years has been developing educational programs for students of all ages, aimed at training in values, attitudes and entrepreneurship. The foundation’s programs seek to bridge the gap between school and the professional environment.

The Foundation has selected 32 of the best students who have followed its entrepreneurship programs, prioritizing interest, technological orientation and both geographic and gender diversity.

According to Blanca Narváez, General Director of the Junior Achievement Foundation, “The CEOs of DigitalES companies will be surprised by the effect of Junior Achievement‘s entrepreneurial education. Students are managers of companies that they themselves have created to provide a solution to a problem or need, during the 2017-2018 school year more than 1,100 mini-companies have been launched throughout Spain. Taking initiative, perseverance, resilience, leadership, civic capital and teamwork are some of the skills developed in the mini-enterprise program .

At the GENERACIÓN WHAT’S NEXT meeting, which will take place at the Duques de Pastrana Palace, each student will sit down with a CEO or President of leading technology and innovation companies, in a relaxed lunch where they can talk, ask questions and exchange experiences from an intergenerational and intergenerational perspective. mentoring.

32 top executives together with 32 outstanding students, some of whom have already had entrepreneurial experiences outside the classroom (launching a start-up, for example), will enjoy a meeting from which we do not know if a Spanish “Unicorn” will emerge: emerging businesses supported by innovation and technology that reach a value of one billion dollars at some stage of their capital raising process. A challenge for the next generation of entrepreneurs.
